Onrust wins prize in Klipperrace 2002

12 and 13 Oktober the waters around Enkhuizen were crowded with 54 klippers racing in two classes. The Onrust was the second day honorly distinghuished with the third price on handicap.

Directly after the purchase in Oktober 2001, the aftdeck was reorganised. The leeboard winches were placed in another way to ceate more sittingspace. With a bit of good will about 12 people can find a place now. Spring 2003 the steering was totaly replaced and the truck backaxle from 1958 was replaced by hydraulic steering. Although a bit more senseless, a lot lighter and safer steering now.

In 2003 the Onrust participated in a few races. Because of the steady renewal of the rigg and the finetuning of the ship we had some high expecations of her speed. This year we joined the Klipperace, the Beurtveer and the Brandarisrace. The last one was most succesfull with a second placed in the class of the “small klippers” (up to 30 meters) and the fifth fastest time of the 66 joining ships

Sitting area renewed

The at the entrance situated sitting area was in the winter of 2002/2003 completely renewed. There is more sitting space with a better lean. Much more comfertable and quite an improvement.
